In collaboration with Delhi University, 20 students from Zakir Husain Delhi College embarked on a transformative journey as part of the AbhiSAARTHI Fellowship, immersing themselves in the realities of governance and grassroots engagement.
This experiential learning program enabled students to delve into pressing social issues such as police welfare, education and child rights, the care economy, and women’s empowerment. Through insightful discussions with police officials, the fellows gained a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the force and the welfare measures in place.
Their visit to Rain Basera near Nizamuddin Railway Station offered a closer look at urban poverty and shelter systems. Engaging with residents and interacting with representatives from the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), the fellows explored the complexities of urban governance and community support mechanisms.
At the AbhiKids Care Station in Nizamuddin, the fellows took part in sessions focused on child care and well-being, witnessing the importance of early intervention in vulnerable communities.
At the heart of this journey was the fellows’ effort in conducting in-depth community mapping to identify local needs and co-create data-driven solutions—driving sustainable development. Their work reinforced our belief that real change begins at the grassroots—with active listening, dialogue, and meaningful action.
A key highlight was a powerful community engagement event led by the fellows at Rain Basera The presence of our CEO, Ms. Manisha, added inspiration and warmth as she interacted with both the fellows and the community, encouraging collective upliftment.
The experience served as a platform to listen, connect, and empower—reaffirming our shared commitment to inclusive growth and lasting grassroots impact.
