From Schooling to Learning: How Early Childhood Care Is Central to Viksit Bharat 2047

India has made remarkable progress in expanding access to education. Schools exist. Enrolment is high. Literacy rates are improving. Yet, learning outcomes tell a different story.

Even today, a large proportion of children enter primary school without the foundational skills needed to learn, grow and thrive. When early childhood years are neglected, gaps appear early and widen with time. This is not just an education challenge; it is a development challenge.

At Abhinandan Educational & Welfare Society, we believe that India’s learning crisis begins long before a child enters Grade 1, and so must the solution.

Why Early Childhood Care & Education Matters

The first six years of life shape a child’s cognitive, emotional and social development. For children from migrant, urban-poor and marginalised communities, this period is often marked by instability, unsafe environments and lack of structured care.

Without quality early childhood care and education:

  • School readiness remains low
  • Learning gaps become permanent
  • Dropout risks increase
  • Intergenerational poverty persists

If India is to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, foundational learning must begin early, safely and inclusively

AbhiKIDS Care Centre: Building Foundations Where It Matters Most

Through the AbhiKIDS Care Centre Program, Abhinandan Educational & Welfare Society is working at the critical intersection of childcare, early learning and parental support

Our centres are designed to serve children from vulnerable communities, especially migrant families, by providing:

  • Safe and nurturing childcare environments
  • Age-appropriate early learning and play-based education
  • Nutrition, health monitoring and psychosocial support
  • School readiness and foundational literacy exposure
  • Women caregivers trained and empowered as early childhood facilitators

By supporting children before they enter formal schooling, AbhiKIDS Care Centres help ensure that schooling actually translates into learning.

Beyond Children: Strengthening Families and Communities

Early childhood care cannot succeed in isolation. The AbhiKIDS model actively engages:

  • Parents, by enabling them to work with dignity and stability
  • Mothers, by creating local livelihood opportunities as trained caregivers
  • Communities, by positioning childcare as a shared responsibility

This integrated approach strengthens the entire learning ecosystem around the child.

Aligning with National Priorities

The AbhiKIDS Care Centre Program directly contributes to:

  • NEP 2020’s emphasis on Early Childhood Care and Education
  • NIPUN Bharat’s focus on foundational literacy and numeracy
  • SDG 4: Quality Education
  • The long-term human capital goals of Viksit Bharat 2047

We believe that a developed India cannot be built on fragile learning foundations.

The Way Forward

India has succeeded in bringing children to school. The next step is ensuring they are ready to learn before they arrive. At Abhinandan Educational & Welfare Society, we remain committed to strengthening India’s education journey, starting where it matters most: early childhood

Because when children are nurtured early, learning becomes possible, opportunity becomes real, and development becomes inclusive.
