AbhiNAARi Pragati Centre

The AbhiNAARi Pragati Centre Program is a transformative initiative under AbhiNAARi, created to empower urban poor women and children by building structured pathways toward sustainable livelihoods, economic independence, and quality education.

Recognising the complex and interlinked challenges of urban poverty, the program adopts a holistic, community-based approach that strengthens both women and their families.

Our Key Focus Areas

Women’s Economic Empowerment

We equip women with employable skills, vocational training, and entrepreneurship opportunities, reducing their dependence on informal and exploitative labour such as begging and ragpicking.

The program actively works toward increasing female labour force participation (LFPR) in urban India, where participation rates remain critically low (approximately 23%), by enabling dignified, structured employment pathways.

Women-Led Enterprise Development

The Centre promotes the creation of women-led micro-enterprises that produce goods and services linked to established retail markets and corporate buyers.

Women are encouraged to:

  • Form and strengthen Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
  • Build financial literacy and savings habits
  • Participate in leadership and confidence-building programs
  • Access market linkages and income-generation opportunities

Family-Centric Livelihood Transition

The initiative facilitates dignified employment alternatives for parents engaged in begging or ragpicking, helping families transition toward stable and sustainable sources of income, breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty.
